The Toronto Downtown Record Show
October 26, 2010 - 09:25 PM
So another episode of the Toronto Downtown Record Show is happening on November 7, 2010. Along with dozens of cool record sellers, I will have a booth where I'll be offering up some of the vinyl treats that I've mentioned on the web site over the past year, including many that are out of print, and maybe even an exclusive or two.Though the booth will be my personal records--and I won't be representing Vortex--I do have 15 passes to the show that I will give away at Vortex. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday) they're available at the desk--one per person. Just ask whoever's there. Free while supplies last!
For more info on the show, visit their official site.
I expect to offer up some nifty box sets and very limited run stuff that came and went super fast. I haven't completely decided yet what I'm bringing but there's a good chance there'll be some Pauline Oliveros, Najda, Mono, Pelican, Eluvium, Numero Group sets, test pressings, Grouper, goodies from past Record Store Days (including Pavement, Soft Machine, Deerhoof, Rodriquez, John Lennon, Mountain Goats, Sonic Youth, Jay Reatard, Jesus Lizard, Camera Obscura, Mastodon, and others), as well as releases on Sublime Frequencies, Mississippi (including some OOP), Honest Jon's, Digitalis, etc etc. Basically, a lot of what I consider some of the best and most limited runs of the past two years or so.
Oh, and speaking of the Numero Group, Tim Perlich has done a nice write-up on the soon-to-be-at-Vortex Syl Johnson box set on his site, The Perlich Post. Those smart enough to be on our Specialty Mailing List were offered this fantastic box set at what I think may be the best price in Canada. These sets are very heavy (more than seven pounds each!) and we offered a special one-time-only price to anyone who pre-ordered.
