I sent out the fourth issue of the Vortex Specialty Mailing List today. Sorry it took so long between issues. In it, I mentioned releases from Grouper, Mississippi Records, Boris, My Morning Jacket, Muslim Gauze, and a few others. You can read it here, though I won't be archiving them all. If you read Issue 4 you'll see that I'm very enthusiastic about some upcoming Grouper releases and reissues. Harris also offers up this 40 minute November, 2009 performance, Live at St Giles In the Fields, London. Noobs may find it a bit harsh at first but if you keep listening, it becomes rather hypnotic.

One LP I somehow forgot to mention in the newsletter is Lightning Bolt's Wonderful Rainbow. It's finally been repressed on vinyl in a very limited qty. In their 4 star review, AllMusic Guide says, "this album is like having a beautiful girl hit you repeatedly over the head with a baseball bat. Imagine all the best aspects of Fred Frith, Derek Bailey, the Ruins, Slayer, and Ornette Coleman all thrown into a blender together. Then imagine them on speed. This one's a keeper."
