Music You’ve Heard Of
November 18, 2009 - 10:53 PM
So I got two emails this week from people asking me why I "never write about music anyone has ever heard of". Fair question.

The reason I write about the smaller bands or little-known artists is because I just assume that y'all are hip enough to already know that we stock better known contemporary titles. We've always done this. We put 'em out cheap, too!

For instance, a flick through the new arrivals this evening revealed the latest releases from these artists:

- Gossip
- Imogen Heap
- Neil Diamond
- Whitney Houston
- Foo Fighters
- Jenny Owen Youngs
- Mariah Carey
- Dizzee Rascal
- Q-Tip
- Felix Da Housecat
- Avett Brothers
- Pitbull
- Patrick Wolf
- Twilight Singers
- Hugh Dillon
- Norah Jones
- Colbie Caillet
- Atlas Sound
- Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Weezer
- Chantal Kreviazuk
- Mew
- Flight of the Conchords
- Devendra Banhart
- OS Mutantes
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
- Sufjan Stevens
- Roseanne Cash
- Katy Perry
- Air
- Bob Dylan
- Gomez
- Snow Patrol
- Steve Morse Band
- Steve Earle
- Chris Botti
- Leonard Cohen
- Pearl Jam
- Manic Street Preachers

Most of these are priced between $8.99 and $10.99. Double discs are a bit more expensive, of course.

When I left tonight there were even some newly released DVDs, including Star Trek, Up, and Monsters Vs. Aliens.
