Black Friday Update
October 29, 2010 - 12:25 PM
Updated to include pressing qty.

A lot of people have been emailing us about the Black Friday Record Store Day. Due to the nature of how RSD events work, we're unable to guarantee we'll have such and such title available. Those curious if we're going to have an announced release... unfortunately, we're unable to confirm. RSD works like this:

- Labels or distributors announce releases.
- Stores order titles they're keen on.
- Titles are divided up based on territory and sent on a first come first served basis to the stores who ordered them.

Since titles are limited pressings, it's impossible to say what titles will arrive and in what quantities.

So far, I can tell you that the following have been made available and we have ordered them. We're not offering holds on these items so please don't email in requests. Here's the list thus far. It's been changing daily for almost a week so more will probably be added as we get closer to the late-November event date. Number in brackets is the reported pressing run; no number means it hasn't been provided.

George Benson - White Rabbit 180g
Black Keys - Brothers 2LP 45RPM + 10" + CD (3000)

Jimi Hendrix - Little Drummer Boy / Silent Night / Auld Lang Syne 10" (5000)

Bruce Springsteen - Save My Love / Because the Night 7"
Stanley Turrentine - Sugar 180g
U2 - Wide Awake in Europe 12" (5000)

I'll add that there are some titles that have been offered that we have not bothered to order because they're not titles that we normally would have luck moving so unless I know someone's looking for them, it's pointless for me to order them since I can't send them back if they don't sell. If you're a Vortex regular and you've heard about a release that is not listed above, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I'll let you know if it's been made available to Canadian stores and if we can try and get you one.
