A Trip Through the CD New Arrivals Bin
October 11, 2009 - 11:44 AM
I took a scan through the CD New Arrivals bin today and thought that there were lovely items there that were worth singling out. I'll try and make this topic a more regular posting gig as I've gotten some comments from people that the blog is too focused on vinyl. I should point out that the reason for that is because the vinyl I'm posting about is new, I can order more in. The same cannot be said of our CD inventory as, since it's used, when it's sold, it's gone until the next time one walks in the door, which could be never. I don't want to post too often about CDs I essentially only have one of because it leads to one delighted customer and many pissed off ones who see the post and come in too late. That said... as of the time of this post, we've got the new releases from:
Drive By Truckers - The Fine Print
Lou Barlow - Goodnight, Unknown
Lullabye Arkestra - Threats / Worship
Gotan Project - Live (2CD)
Mika - The Boy Who Knew Too Much
Those are all around $10, give or take a dollar, except for the Gotan, which is a double CD. That's about $5 - $10 cheaper than you'll find them at new stores and, as with all of our digital items, they're fully guaranteed so it's just like buying new except you don't suffer the humiliation of having to peel off the damn wrapper.
Some other nice items I saw while browsing:
Ray Charles - Genius Hits the Road and Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music
Earthless - Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky
Patti Smith and Kevin Shields - The Coral Sea
Billy Harper - Soran-Bushi / B.H. (Japanese)
Archie Shepp - On Green Dolphin Street (Japanese)
Eddie and Ernie - Lost Friends (on Kent!)
Anna King - Back to Soul (wonderful UK import, produced and co-written by James Brown)
John Cale - Hobosapiens
Son House - Legendary 1969 Rochester Sessions, Complete and Original Delta Blues
Reverend Gary Davis - From Blues to Gospel
Various Artists - Rocksteady - The Roots of Reggae
Soundtracks for Genghis Blues, Lawrence of Arabia, and Rockers
Johnny Horton - Honky Tonk Man - The Essential Johnny Horton, 1956 - 1960 (36 tracks, one mono cd and one stereo, 90 minutes, five stars)
