Thanks to everyone who came to Vortex yesterday for Record Store Day. It was extraordinarily busy at 10am when the very healthy line of people waiting in the rain stormed the racks. It's noon Sunday right now and I pretty much just woke up. When I left last night we still had these left:
Syd Barrett
Grindermans
Black Angels
Numero Group
Arthur Russell
Gorillaz
Hendrix
Blitzen Trapper
Howe Gelb
Queen
Rush
Rolling Stones
Velvet Underground
Pearl Jam
Peter Born and John
Zeus
Pearl jam
AC/DC
Death Cab for Cutie
Bad Brains
Derek and the Dominos
Deerhunter
Fleet foxes
Antony & the Johnsons
Caribou
Esben and the Witch
Midlake
Architecture in Helsinki
Discordance Axis
Bibio
Roll the Dice
African Guitar Legends
Some we only had one of so if you're curious about whether something's still there before you head in, give the store a call (416-483-7437).
Next up, a few releases that got lost in the RSD shuffle:
TV On the Radio's new LP is at the shop. I haven't heard it yet but Pitchfork gave it a hefty 7.7 in their review.
Bill Callahan's Apocalypse. Once again, Callahan puts out an absolutely solid release. No surprise, really, as he's been doing it for almost 20 years. Reviews are solid for this new one: four stars at Tiny Mix Tapes and 8/10 at PFM.
