Glenn Jones - Barbecue Bob in Fishtown on vinyl
July 01, 2010 - 07:30 AM
Thanks to all who came out to the Annual Summer Sale. Sorry if you had to wait in line too long. Sorry if you tried to sneak in after 8pm yesterday and were tossed out. In other news... some new vinyl coming in in the next week or so:
Sonic Youth - Goo
Tracey Thorn - Love and Its Opposite
Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune
Fennesz - Transition 7"
Doris Duke - I'm a Loser
And two acoustic gems:
Jack Rose - Kensington Blues
"An inventive and self-taught player on acoustic six-string, 12-string, and lap steel guitar, Jack Rose was considered part of the so-called Takoma revivalist movement that echoes the often Eastern-tinged acoustic guitar experiments of John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and others..." -- Allmusic
Glenn Jones - Barbecue Bob in Fishtown
"The third full solo release by Glenn Jones finds the scholarly, carefully elegant performer continuing to stake out his own style on not only acoustic guitar, but banjo... the focus on shorter pieces and immediate, joyful thrills helps situate the release as both a showcase for his abilities and a way to introduce a new listener to possibilities of experimental acoustic performance on the instruments." -- Allmusic (4 stars)
and restocks of:
Bob Dylan - Another Side Of, Bringing It All Back Home, and Highway 61 Revisited
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
James Carr - A Man Needs a Woman and You Got My Mind Messed Up
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Tina Brooks - True Blue
Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk
Tool - 2LP Picture Disc

Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball / Tom Joad 10"
May 18, 2010 - 11:43 PM
Got a bit of stuff in today, some of it rather limited:Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball (live) - 10" - (UK pressing of this ltd vinyl release featuring "Wrecking Ball" and "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" (with TOM MORELLO), both recorded at Giants Stadium on his last tour.)
Andrew Bird - Mysterious Production of Eggs
Decemberists - Her Majesty The Decemberists... (180g)
Grouper / Pumice - New Zealand Tour Single (7", obviously out of print and I only managed to find 2 of 'em)
Husker Du - Makes No Sense / Love is All Around (7"; Husker covering the theme from Mary Tyler Moore. Aww yeah.)
Thorr's Hammer - Dommedagsnatt (The very first album Southern Lord released, marking the very 1st time that Stephen O'Malley (BURNING WITCH, SUNN0))), KHANATE) & Greg Anderson (SUNN0))), GOATSNAKE) & Teeth of Lions Rule the divine.)
Earth - Radio Live (Deluxe 180 gram, vinyl-only release comes in a cloth-like textured heavy-weight cardboard sleeve with metallic silver foil printing. Limited to 3000. From a live radio broadcast on KFJC & tracks from a live performance in Vienna.)
Jack Rose - Kensington Blues
Dead Meadow - Three Kings (2LP + DVD - Feature-length live movie w/ short vignettes combined w/ the soundtrack of the movie.)
Caribou - Odessa (UK release for RSD featuring 3 new mixes of the title track - Junior Boys, David Wrench, & Nite Jewel - plus the original album version. Limited to 500.)
And we got the new Mike Patton in on CD.
I also lowered the price on two recent box sets: Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs and Wilco's Kicking Television. There was an error on the original invoice when they came in which resulted in a slightly higher price than they shoulda been.

A nice batch of blues should hit the floor Tuesday afternoon. Here's a list of some of the titles; in actuality, there's about twice this amount:Elmore James - Complete Fire-Enjoy Sessions (3 CDs, Japanese Import)
Lightnin' Hopkins - Gold Star Sessions Vol 1 and 2 (two separate CDs)
Robert Lee McCoy - Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order (Austrian import)
Little Walter - The Blues World Of...
Lightnin' Hopkins - Free Form Patterns
Various Artists - Play My Juke Box, 1943 - 1954 (UK Import)
Charley Patton - Complete Recorded Works (3 CD; Japanese Import w/ 70 page bilingual booklet)
Bobby Bland - I Pity the Fool / Duke Recordings Vol 1 (2 cd with 24 page booklet)
Lightnin' Slim - Blue Lightning (UK Import)
Percy Mayfield - Best of (Japanese Import)
Little Joe Blue - Boss of the Blues Guitar (US Import)
Junior Wells - On Tap
Sonny Boy Williamson - Clownin' With the World
In addition, I've reorganized the Blues / Gospel section slightly. Since we alphabetized the sections six months or so ago, Blues has been selling faster, so we now have more space there. So, I shifted the content and we will put New Arrival blues titles on the top shelf of blues so those who check frequently can easily see what's new and not have to flick through non-blues content.
