A bunch of DVDs in in the last few days. TV stuff, recent Hollywood releases, a bunch of film noir, etc. etc.

A couple hundred new used vinyl pieces have hit the floor since Friday, including three milk crates today alone. They completely run the gamut for genre (blues, jazz, folk, calypso, rock, pop). I'm not gonna list them all but here's some. A great many of them are less common editions (colored vinyl, promos, picture discs, 10"s, 12"s, and imports from Japan, Belgium, UK, US), and compilations from labels like Sympathy for the Record Industry, SST, Amphetamine Reptile, Metal Blade:

Hendrix (3 diff imports including Italy and Brazil)
Jeff Beck
Babe Ruth
Prince (1999 import 12")
Breeders
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Jane's Addiction (Been Caught Stealing 12" import box set)
New Order (import 12")
Sisters of Mercy
Catherine Wheel (double clear vinyl)
REM (promos, pic discs, colored vinyl)
Husker Du, Jesus Lizard (on compilations)
Iggy Pop
Bowie
Allman Bros.
Atomic Rooster
Caravan
Lou Reed
Eagles (colored vinyl)
Marilyn Manson (Pic Disc)
Nirvana 12"
Offspring
Soundgarden 12"
Soul Asylum (colored vinyl)
Multiple CTI releases
Sturm Group
The Gits
Crass
Charlie Byrd
Aretha Franklin
Freddie Hubbard
Motley Crue
The Necros (split LP)

and dozens and dozens more.

The majority of these are in fantastic shape so will probably move fast.

Due to a lack of space in New Arrivals, some titles have been put in other places so please ask.

Lastly, I've coded the site so that when you click on a category you'll now get a full listing of blog entries under that category.

As mentioned in my last post, a bunch of new used vinyl will hit the floor shortly as we had multiple customers promising to bring in lots of titles over the coming days. Indeed, some came in today and has been priced and put out. Among them were multiple

Rolling Stones
Grateful Dead
John Mayall
Beatles
Allman Brothers
The Band
Miles Davis
Cream
Hendrix
Clapton

There were also some nice near-mint 5- and 6-LP box sets: Clapton, Allman Brothers, Dylan, and a Muddy Waters on Chess, all with their booklets and wax in great shape.

In addition, there are some nice new vinyl pieces which came in last week that I forgot to post about:

Joy Division
Doris Duke
Mono
Hendrix

and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

The Soft Machine 2LP that came out ltd to 500 on Record Store Day has now come out domestically so we've lowered the price of the ones we have on hand. Just 23.99 for the German import.

And... an update on the Classical section. I had initially said it would be gone by last Friday but the combination of heatwave and soccer made it a slow week so we're keeping it a bit longer, still at 50% off. However, it'll probably be gone very soon (less than a week, I'd guess).

We haven't completely decided what we're going to do with the space made available by the classical, but we'll probably be putting together the long-requested R&B/Soul and Ambient sections. We're also open to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), so please send any you have along.

So I've been resting pretty much since the sale ended but am back in the shop tomorrow. We should have some new vinyl in this week, as well as some good used pieces.

In the meantime, I offer this for your enjoyment:

Starting next week we'll no longer be stocking classical music

We've decided to get rid of our Classical Music. Simply put, it sells almost as poorly as hip hop and cajun music--though it takes up 20 times the space.

So, from July 2 to July 9, Classical Music will be offered at 50% off. Get it while you can. After that, it's gone.

Thanks to all who came out to the Annual Summer Sale. Sorry if you had to wait in line too long. Sorry if you tried to sneak in after 8pm yesterday and were tossed out.

In other news... some new vinyl coming in in the next week or so:

Sonic Youth - Goo
Tracey Thorn - Love and Its Opposite
Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune
Fennesz - Transition 7"
Doris Duke - I'm a Loser

And two acoustic gems:

Jack Rose - Kensington Blues
"An inventive and self-taught player on acoustic six-string, 12-string, and lap steel guitar, Jack Rose was considered part of the so-called Takoma revivalist movement that echoes the often Eastern-tinged acoustic guitar experiments of John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and others..." -- Allmusic

Glenn Jones - Barbecue Bob in Fishtown
"The third full solo release by Glenn Jones finds the scholarly, carefully elegant performer continuing to stake out his own style on not only acoustic guitar, but banjo... the focus on shorter pieces and immediate, joyful thrills helps situate the release as both a showcase for his abilities and a way to introduce a new listener to possibilities of experimental acoustic performance on the instruments." -- Allmusic (4 stars)

and restocks of:

Bob Dylan - Another Side Of, Bringing It All Back Home, and Highway 61 Revisited
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
James Carr - A Man Needs a Woman and You Got My Mind Messed Up
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Tina Brooks - True Blue
Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk
Tool - 2LP Picture Disc
